There are a few states that really take the spotlight in America and Texas is one of them. I am sure you have heard of Dallas, Houston, and Austin, however we can tell you that Austin takes the cake on being the most unique.
In Austin you'll find one of the most upcoming hip neighborhoods called East Austin, which is full of restaurants, bars, and the Heywood Hotel (not to mention that it is also walking and bicycling distance to downtown). This hip, modern, creative boutique hotel was designed from a house and now has 7 unique guest rooms.
Throughout the hotel you'll find locally made Austin furniture, art, and artisan crafts throughout the hotel.
When arriving to my room at the Heywood Hotel, I was greeted with a lovely 'Howdy' letter and a few local Austin artisan chocolates from Crave.

Another bonus of my check in at the Heywood Hotel in Austin was complimentary local Zilker Brewing Company craft beer. I personally don't drink beer, however one of the photographers I worked with ended up trying it and said it was delicious.
Another bonus of the Heywood hotel is the complimentary bikes that are available first come first serve ( perfect for getting around downtown Austin) / photographed by ZENAS MITCHELL
As always when traveling, wifi is important and I can assure you that the Heywood Hotel has strong wifi that is perfect for working.

Treating yourself is important when traveling, as travel is full of stress and tension. One thing I always do (when a bathtub is available) is treat myself, with a long morning bubble bath and a cup of coffee. Added bonus when a a hotel also has natural non toxic bubble bath (the Heywood Hotel had Archipelago Botanicals).
One thing that helps cut down on your carbon footprint when travelling, is traveling with less. I love when hotels offer bath products that I can actually use and are salon quality. It was such a pleasant surprise to see Kevin Murphy products at the Heywood. Not only are Kevin Murphy products natural and non toxic but they even come in recycled and biodegradable packaging.

Please note that my stay at the Heywood Hotel was complimentary, however all my thoughts about the hotel are my own. The standards of the hotel are also both ethical and green, which fit into Florum Magazine's own ethical standards.
