Families Without Borders
Families Without Borders official Mission Statement:
Our mission is to improve the lives of children and families through education and economic development. We do this through an empowerment model – honoring the inherent capabilities of individuals and providing the education and tools for them to improve their lives and communities.
Families Without Borders seeks to foster a “Pay it Forward” mentality, so that their efforts to support students not only help the specific individual, but many more to come. Each of the college students they provide scholarships for are asked to sponsor a student themselves upon graduation, as well as to select a village to be an advocate for. Families Without Borders asks that they work with the village community members to address a pressing community need – the “what” and “how” determined by those involved. In this way, the impact of a college scholarship goes far beyond the individual life of the student, to create community change for the better.
